Attaining AAALAC International Accreditation – Myth and Facts

The LASA India in collaboration with the AAALAC International organizes this workshop to promote the high standards for the care and use of research animals. This workshop provides AAALAC International expectation and guidance for key personnel involving in attaining AAALAC International accredited animal care and use programs or the new applicant institutions interested in seeking AAALAC International accreditation in the near future. The workshop will be useful for the Institutional Officials or high level management personnel, Attending Veterinarians or veterinarians, IAEC Chairpersons and members, occupational health personnel, facility engineers and leading scientists in India and Pacific Rim Countries. Certificates of Attendance will be provided to each participant.

Goals

  • To be familiar with AAALAC International Rules of Accreditation, accreditation concepts and process, the AAALAC International standards and expectation, common deficiencies identified at AAALAC International Site Visits in the Pacific Rim region.
  • To provide guidance for preparing AAALAC International Program Descriptions and the AAALAC International Site Visits.
  • To discuss challenges found in some setups i.e. academia, universities, government organizations etc.
  • To discuss AAALAC International harmonization in any country where local requirements are different than the Guide recommendations.
  • To bring questions relevant to your home institutions.
